Get a QuoteWhat is a Pre Demolition Survey?
A pre-demolition survey is the most thorough and intrusive type of asbestos survey. It is a legal requirement before any demolition work is carried out on a building constructed before the year 2000. The survey is designed to locate all asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) throughout the entire structure, including hidden and inaccessible areas.
Unlike a refurbishment survey, a pre-demolition survey must cover the entire building — not just the areas where work is planned. This ensures that all ACMs are identified and safely removed before demolition begins, protecting workers, the public and the environment.
Why is it Required?
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 both require a pre-demolition survey before any demolition work. Failure to comply is a criminal offence and can result in significant fines, prosecution and project delays.
